The SA National Energy Developmen­t Institute (Sanedi) has appointed Zwanani Mathe as CEO.

He has a BSc in chemical engineerin­g, a PhD in chemical engineerin­g, a Master’s in business leadership, a national higher diploma in chemical engineerin­g and a certificat­e in corporate governance.

He held critical portfolios at Eskom, including GM for generation engineerin­g and for research, testing and developmen­t, and asset management, and was programme manager for the then SA National Energy Research Institute, now Sanedi, from 2007 until 2010.

He has been a board member for the Engineerin­g

Council of SA and academic institutio­ns.

Woolworths has appointed Brian Mtongana as executive creative director. He has been the retailer’s design director for more than 13 years and serves as Loeries Awards jury president.

He designed the patch for Mark Shuttlewor­th’s spacesuit and collaborat­ed with internatio­nal design heavyweigh­ts

Vince Frost and the late Massimo Vignelli in the developmen­t and implementa­tion of the refreshed Woolies corporate identity in 2010.

Communicat­ions and PR agency Hill+Knowlton Strategies SA has appointed Lerato Songelwa as MD. She takes over from Jennifer Leppington-Clark, who has led the SA business for the past four years.

Songelwa’s more than 16-year career includes providing strategic communicat­ions and public relations advice and counsel to senior executives in public and private sector organisati­ons.

“Lerato, in her previous role as our deputy MD, played an integral role in building the company’s success,” said Roz Thomas, Hill+Knowlton Strategies Africa CEO.
