Former Bosasa campus on market

-

Park Village Auctions (PVA), in conjunction with Bidders Choice, is bringing the highly publicised “Smart Global Campus” and its contents belonging to African Global Operations (AGO, formally Bosasa) back to market.

The assets to be sold are essentially a “reauction” of the last lots stemming from the liquidation of several subsidiaries of Bosasa, which commenced in December 2019. Litigation has, until now, thwarted the business rescue practitioners’ attempts to conclude liquidation proceedings.

A statement from PVA on the matter said: “The asset/property (being the Bosasa campus) was initially put up for public auction during early December 2019. To our knowledge, the implementation of the sale arising from the auction was delayed for a significant period because of litigation between the remaining Gavin Watson-related companies and the liquidators.

“As a result of the delay that was occasioned by the litigation, the purchaser, as it was entitled to do in terms of the agreement, resiled from the agreement.”

According to PVA director Clive Lazarus, the upcoming auction is a “further step in the administrative process”.

Set to take place on-site at 1 Windsor Road, Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp, from 11am on Friday, the sale comprises immovable property and office furniture (the latter will be sold as one lot).

The immovable property, known as the Smart Global Campus, features a large office park and training centre, a double-volume warehouse, multiple storerooms, a transformer room, a command control room, an “Imbizo” recreation building with large timber deck, a restaurant (or canteen), a lapa, sleeping quarters, staff ablution facilities, steel carports and JoJo water reservoirs set astride about 8.2ha of land.

Asked if the auction would bring the Bosasa saga to a close, Lazarus said: “The auction represents an opportunity for creditors to recoup debts finally.”
