MAMPARA OF THE WEEK

Iqbal Survé

-

What’s up, Doc?

To staff at Independent Media, he’s the “Doc” who’s made the company a laughing stock and wants to get rid of scores of them in his latest wave of retrenchments. To Dan Matjila, he’s defender-in-chief, which in most reasonable minds reinforces suspicions about the probity of the PIC chief. To Dougie Oakes, who wrote a rude blog post about his former boss this week, he’s someone “neckdeep in a hole which he dug for himself — and slowly, but surely, it is filling up with s**t”. To columnist Chris Roper, he’s the “apparent love-child of a strutting peacock and a cheap piñata”. To the bewildered remaining readers of his titles, he’s the creepy dude who hijacks front pages to send personal hate mail. And to us, Iqbal Survé is a skelm with three degrees who’s a third-degree mampara.
