This week’s soccer buzz

Sunday Times - - Sport Soccer -

● Kaizer Chiefs fans went from a feeling of ecstasy when the news of the sacking of Giovanni Solinas filtered through to their ears only to go to total depression within two hours after Amakhosi announced Ernst Middendorp, better known as Mazinyo, as a replacement for the bumbling Italian. Social media went berserk with Chiefs fans calling their management to review their decision as Middendorp, who did some huge destruction at Chiefs before, was never in their wildest of dreams as someone any better than Solinas.

● Tsamaya was so heartbroken with the conduct of Amakhosi legends Doctor Khumalo and Neil Tovey, who hid behind the walls like first-year school kids at the launch of Kwamahlobo Festive Games in Soweto this week. Surrounded by hungry for-scoop soccer scribes who longed for their views on Bafana Bafana and their beleaguered former club, the duo simply shrugged off all those questions, saying they were in the event to only talk about the amateur tournament. Come on now guys, you cannot deprive us of drinking from your font of wisdom when we so desperately need it!
