Crunch boost for McDonald’s

THE recession has given a big boost to McDonald’s, which grew its share of the fast food market in the UK.

The US chain said its market share had risen from just over 8 percent to 9 percent this year.

Its restaurants served an extra 1 000 customers a week in the third quarter as it sold more value meals than a year ago.
