Brunei wants cheating husbands whipped

MOST Bruneians want husbands who cheat on their wives to be whipped, according to a survey in the Muslim-majority country.

The survey found 76 percent of 272 respondents said men should be whipped for having affairs, while only 55 percent said unfaithful wives should be punished this way.

“The result of the survey is an indication of the pent-up feelings that women harbour against irresponsible men,” a social worker from Brunei said on the website.

Brunei, located on the island of Borneo, has a population of almost 400 000, of whom 66 percent are Muslim. – Reuters
