ANC leaders must speak out

THE COURAGE Billy Masetlha showed in speaking out needs to be encouraged within the ANC.

He has sounded the bells that Thabo Mbeki, Dumisani Makhaye and others have sounded about the agenda of the new Left to transform the ANC into a socialist party.

Such a strong stand indicates that national executive committee members fear Blade Nzimande and, as such, have been silenced.

Why are ANC policies being articulated by Cosatu and the SACP? Is this the Zanufication and Stalinisation of the ANC with anyone who articulates sound policy being labelled an enemy of the working class?

If the ANC becomes socialist, there is no need for the existence of the SACP.

Both Nzimande and Gwede Mantashe are new in the ANC; hence their behaviour is different from that of Govan Mbeki, Yusuf Dadoo, and Chris Hani.

The post-Hani communists know very little of MarxismLeninism.

Leaders like Kgalema Motlanthe, Toyko Sexwale, Zweli Mkhize and Cyril Ramaphosa must shake off the shackles of fear and defend the ANC and Masetlha.

This task cannot be delegated to Julius Malema.
