Meet the doc caring for your health

DEVASHNEE Chinasamy is a Durban doctor who’s determined to make a difference to the lives of our readers.

Her column, What’s up, Doc?, starts on page today and she will keep readers up to date on health every week.

“There is no knowledge more useful than understanding your body,” she says. And with a background in public health, she believes good health is not the preserve of the wealthy.

“I hope to make a difference in the lives of Tribune Herald readers, old or young, rich or poor. After years of helping thousands as a public sector doctor, I look forward to offering quality medical advice to readers.”

Chinasamy, 32, studied at the former University of Natal and obtained her med- ical degree from Durban’s Nelson Mandela Medical School. She has been a medical practitioner for six years, having worked at RK Khan Hospital, Phoenix Community Health Centre, KwaMashu Polyclinic and Tongaat Community Health Centre. Her private practice opened recently at the Whitehouse Shopping Centre in Phoenix.
