ARGENTINA’S most famous football club has unveiled the world’s first footballthemed hotel in its home city of Buenos Aires.

Boca Juniors – the team for which Diego Maradona famously played – has created a five-star hotel in the city centre, near to the Bohemian district of San Telmo.

This stylish skyscraper cost £9 million (R119.5m) and is now open to sportloving tourists after four years in the making.

It will also be the place where team members stay the night before matches – with the fifth and sixth floors dedicated to the players.

As well as paying homage to the blue and gold colours that represent the club, the 85-room hotel has Boca Juniors memorabilia on display throughout the lobby, plus an extensive spa and gym for energetic guests.

Fans will be able to spot pictures of iconic players painted on the door of each room – with Maradona gracing the entrance to the most expensive room.

Tourists visiting Argentina often try to watch a local football match in Buenos Aries.

It is hoped that fans will also splash out on a stay at the Boca Hotel in a bid to experience the lifestyle of the famous footballers.

Manager Pablo Veloso said he wanted visitors to “live minute by minute” the passion of the club from the moment they step through the doors.

The rooms will cost between £90 and £370 a night, and guests will also be able to explore a museum dedicated to the team, as well as watch documentaries in their rooms. – Daily Mail
