There are choral treats: the Heritage concert on September 25, with seven choirs making up a massive combined choir; then the final concert on October 23, in celebration of Artistic Director/ Chief Executive Bongani Tembe’s twenty years at the helm, with Orff ’s Carmina Burana.
Ben Schoeman performs SainSaëns’ Piano Concert No. 5 (the Egyptian) on September 4 and September 18 features the National Youth Concerto Festival, showcasing young soloists, under the baton of Lyk Temmingh.
International soloists include David Salleras (saxophone) and Olivier Patey (clarinet), while American Joanna Frankel, KZN Philharmonic’s concert master, perform Brahms’ Violin Concerto, Op. 77 in D major on October 2.
