Who is behind Gordhan must fall?

-

YOUR front-page report headlined “Big guns back Gordhan” (February 28) refers. Is there a conspiracy to oust Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan?

What goes on behind the Hawks’ and Luthuli House doors is within their domain and not for public consumption, but we can rest assured that a lot is happening behind the scenes and the public will never know – unless information is leaked.

With all these political rumblings, it is not good for our battered economy as this creates a bad image of our country.

It shows that all is not well at Luthuli House.

The rumblings began when President Jacob Zuma started his second term of office.

A lot has happened since then. South Africans have lost respect, trust and confidence in Zuma and his administration.

South Africa can’t afford to keep Zuma. If he stays, I’m certain we will see more conspiracies. It is time for Zuma to step down as he has passed his sell-by date.

His staying won’t help South Africa in any way.

Still, the million-dollar question is: Who is conspiring against Gordhan? The Hawks or Zuma or the ANC?

Of course, Zuma hand-picked the Hawks officials, so they owe their allegiance to him.

This makes him suspect No 1, who may be quietly working behind the scenes to get Gordhan out, for some reason known only to himself, although it is claimed Zuma supports Gordhan.

In politics you can expect anything. Conspiracies have been around since time immemorial. Whatever the case, it seems it is high noon for Gordhan.

My guess is that if it is not Zuma, there is a third force in ANC ranks that wants Gordhan to fall.
