Looking forward to their lives together

-

MOHAMED, a 25-year-old actuarial analyst at First National Bank, and Sherbanu Ally, a 25-year-old financial consultant at Rand Merchant Bank, wed at NMJ Islamic Hall in Morningside, Durban, on May 7. HOW WE MET

Mohamed lived in Joburg and I lived in Durban. Mutual friends from campus introduced us in 2014. When we met in person two months later, there was an instant connection. PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

The proposal was a big surprise after a helicopter flip.

When I got off the helicopter in Inanda Hills, there he stood, rose in mouth. He got down on one knee and proposed. We spent a hour on a hill, picnicking and taking in the view. A romantic lunch followed.

Then came months of preparing for our big day. WEDDING BLACK BOOK Parktown Bridal Store.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Planning a wedding from another province was our biggest challenge. There were a lot of trips back and forth, especially when we had to rehash plans. But our parents, families and friends made these challenges almost unnoticeable with their help. VIEWS ON LOVE & MARRIAGE

Our religion places huge emphasis on marriage and the blessings that come with it. We have supportive parents who have been married for a long time and are growing old together. That is how we see ourselves in the future. We are romantics, experiencing true and unconditional love which we regard as a gift from the Almighty, a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love.
