Hero fireman praises efforts, teamwork

- ALYSSIA BIRJALAL

had seen the fire his adrenalin had kicked in and all he wanted to do was make sure he put the fire out.

“I love my job and every time I attend a fire, a burst of adrenalin kicks in. It’s hard to explain – but that helps me perform my duties at my best.”

Although called a hero by many, Maduna said this fire was no different from fires he had fought in the past.

“This was not my first time on the ladder and this fire was easier than most.

“In the past I have fought factory fires, and those are much worse because of the chemicals that are usually used or stored in some of them.”

Maduna said his efforts would have been in vain if not for the team on the ground that helped him.

“There was good communication and I am nothing without my team at the bottom, so credit to the guys,” he said.
