Saturn brings the benefits of duty and justice, not negativity

-

I AM worried about next year. I have read Saturn will transit Sagittarius on January 26.

It will affect my Zodiac sign and I will be under Saturn sade sati. My birthday is on the same day. I am worried about the negative effects of Saturn. What can I do on my birthday to improve my luck.

DO NOT be afraid of Saturn. This planet is very favourable in your life. Because of this, Saturn sade sati will be extremely favourable for you. Saturn is given the principal place among all nine planets.

It has the longest lasting influence of all of the planets due to its slow movement in the birth chart. It is given the place of chief justice. It gives one pleasure or punishment, depending on a person’s actions. It gives you the results of your karma.

With its right to punishment, it inspires people to follow the path of morality and justice. Saturn is the officer of service; so its influence inspires people to work hard and be determined.

Saturn also makes a person dutiful. The person who is influenced by Saturn believes in performing his duties rather than asking for his rights.

Saturn inspires everyone to perform good deeds or karmas.

The following are tips to maximise your luck on your birthday, because an individual

receives maximum blessings and good wishes on that day. There are many shifts of planets in one’s horoscope on that day.

• When celebrating your birthday, don’t blow out the candles with your mouth. Instead, fan them.

• Always keep at least one candle alight. A lit candle represents light (jyoti) and as per Hinduism we worship light (Sun). Light is also worshipped in some form among all religions, so keep one candle burning.

• Be immensely grateful to God and your parents, especially on your birthday.

• Rise early and say your prayers in the morning. According to Hinduism, it is considered auspicious to apply a red tilak (dot) if you can. If possible, visit any temple on this day.

• Also offer sweetmeats to your favourite deity and distribute to your family. Eat a sweet dish on this day.

• If you meet your parents and/or elders, touch their feet for blessings.

• Try to be vegetarian for the day. It is good to do “tula daan” on this day – envisaged through the great sage. Tula means scale and daan means donation (give a donation equivalent to your body weight).

This daan is mainly meant for removing obstacles and the fulfilment of wishes. It is a powerful remedy and good for warding off the malefic effects of planets. Everyone should do this at least once a year to make their planets favourable.

How it works in ancient India: Place the person giving the charity on one side of a balance scale. Put the donation on the other. When both sides are equal, these things are donated to charity. In the 1990s this was a common practice in India, but nowadays it’s evident only in villages.

Most important, on this day, if you touch the feet of your parents or elders, when they touch your head with their palm for blessings, they should recite the following mantra once: “Ashwathaama Balir Vyasaha Hanumanthra Vibeeshanaha Kriba Parasuramas cha Saptaitey Chiranjeevinaha”.

A Hindu belief is that there are seven immortals. Hindu scripture also contains a mantra about the immortals, in which their names are recited for longevity.

In Hindu mythology, there are said to be a group of immortals or chiranjeevi’s.(Ashwatthama, King Bali, Shree Ved Vyasa, Lord Hanuman, Vibhishanjee, Rishi Kripacharya, Lord Parashuram). Some are born human or mortal but, over time, because of some boon, have become Chiranjeevi except for Ashwathaama (who was cursed). Immortal does not mean eternal: One is said to exist until the end of this “Kali Yuga” or live for thousands of years.
