Hassan has three children, Tariq, 18, Aaliah, 14, and Inam, 11. She is 45 but says: “That’s just a number in my head. I feel 25.” Husband Imtiaz is also 45.

The family live on La Lucia Ridge and Hassan was born in Durban “and Johannesbu­rg-bred”, she says.

Her high school was Overport Secondary, where she matriculat­ed in 1989 before moving on to the University of KwaZulu-Natal where she graduated in 1994. She later became an advocate.

One of her early jobs was as legal adviser to iProp Ltd.
