Laugh till you cry at the Jam

Singing sensation headlines launch

-

MOTHER-SON comedy duo Annalakshmi and Kamz Govender will be among the highlights of the first “Durban Comedy Jam” set to take place at the Elangeni Maharani Hotel’s sky venue on May 6.

The monthly gig to be hosted at the hotel will feature some of the best stand-up comedy performers in the country.

Annalakshmi, who will headline the show, is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most versatile comics, delivering sidesplitting laughs, as well as thrilling audiences with her incredible singing voice.

She recently became an online sensation when a series of videos demonstrating her vocal skills went viral.

Annalakshmi’s son, Kamz, is known as the prince of the one-liners delivering jokes laden with clever puns and razor-sharp wit.

Also on the line-up is Masood Boomgaard, who will host the show, having recently debuted his solo stand-up show Joker.

Boomgaard’s jokes range in subject matter from politics and culture to relationships and sports.

Audiences can also look forward to Mo Vawda, whose tales of a young Muslim dad will have you rolling in the aisles.

Another familiar face on the line-up is East Coast Radio’s Rory Petzer, a master of high-energy physical comedy; think Jim Carrey meets Peter Sellers with a Durban wit-ou twist.

Petzer is currently the producer of the ECR afternoon drive show with Phat Joe.

And last but not least, the Durban Comedy Jam will showcase the comic stylings of Mfundo Ndovela, who is one of the country’s top comedy newcomers and is widely regarded as a future heavyweight.

The show takes place on May 6 at Elangeni Maharani Hotel on Durban’s North Beach at 8pm.

Tickets are R120 and are available from Computicket and Checkers.
