240 000 faulty cars recalled

-

SOUTH Korea’s Transport Ministry on Friday ordered the recall of 240 000 cars made by Hyundai and its sister firm Kia Motors after a whistleblower warned of faulty parts. Twelve Hyundai and Kia models are affected, including the Sonata, Santa Fe, Elantra and the Hyundai Genesis. Both manufacturers said they accept the decision, as safety is always of paramount importance. The warning over possible faulty parts was passed to a government regulator by a Hyundai engineer. Only cars in South Korea are affected by the recall. – DPA
