SAPS Widows and Orphans Golf Day

-

THE 13th annual SAPS Widows and Orphans Golf Day, hosted by former cricketer Mike Procter, will be held at Mount Edgecombe this Friday.

The event, which has now become a permanent fixture on the social calendar, has again drawn a full field, with 60 four-balls spread across the two courses. All proceeds from the day, as well as the auction that follows, go towards those families affected by police men and women who are lost on the job.

The field is often littered with sporting personalities, and this year is no different. The guest speaker for the evening is rugby great Stefan Terblanche, and the MC is again Dan Nicholl.

This year’s event will also be marked with a tinge of sadness, as two great friends of the Widows and Orphans Day, golf personalities Mus Gammon and Simon Hobday have both passed away recently. They will no doubt be remembered, and a drink raised in their honour. – Sports Reporter.
