-

POWER utility Eskom yesterday opened entries for its business investment corporation in Soweto, saying that the move was aimed at encouraging and rewarding entrepreneurs by providing a platform for small and medium enterprises (SMES) to cross the next major hurdle in business development. The Eskom Development Foundation said the entries would be open until July. The foundation said the initiative was aimed at encouraging and rewarding young entrepreneurs. The foundation’s chief executive Cecil Ramonotsi said the competition wanted to to give small businesses a chance to boost their operations. “Eskom is giving small businesses a chance to boost their operations through this competition and I would encourage them to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.” Yamaha Gemmer chief executive Mosibudi Makgato said the competition would help small business to grow and get exposure. She said she was also a product of the initiative. “My sister and I saw a gap in the market of producing ginger beer,” Makgato said. – Ziyanda Mbolekwa
