Young cast shakes things up
Milkshake “LIFE is a milkshake” for the talented cast of Vishwa Shakti’s latest production, Mumbai Milkshake, which is set to leave audiences spellbound. It opened at Sibaya’s izulu Theatre this weekend.
The youthful cast of mostly scholars will attempt to draw attention to serious community issues through spectacular dance and drama sequences.
Vishwa Shakti, a Tongaatbased non-profit organisation, has been making concerted efforts over the past decade to develop youth holistically through events such as the annual yoga and selfdevelopment camps to equip youth with performing art skills.
Chief executive Kamal Maharaj said: “We realised that young people have an array of talent and we intend to nurture their talent for the benefit of our communities.”
The cast of more than 80 youngsters will dazzle audiences with their performance, helped by mesmerising technical effects to create a cinema-like experience.
“It’s a live Bollywood movie, a truly unique production,” Maharaj said.
Maharaj wrote the play and said audiences have to attend to see for themselves why life is a milkshake.
“Come and see what our children have to offer. This production has become possible after months of rigorous training and preparation,” he said.
Tickets are on sale at Shoprite Checkers and Computicket for performances on Friday, July 14, and Saturday, July 15, both at 8pm.
