Treat yourself to a serene yoga holiday

- KARINDA JAGMOHAN

A YEAR-END Dream Yoga camp in the serene foothills of the Drakensberg has been designed to help any busy-bee get back to basics.

Cultural, non-profit organisation Vishwa Shakti’s annual leadership camp will happen there in December and is almost fully booked.

According to Vishwa

Shakti chief executive Kamal Maharaj, this year’s theme is “Dream Yoga”, which will encompass activities that people dream of doing during their normal work or school routines.

“People dream about taking time off to invest in themselves and this is exactly what people need, a getaway from the hustle and bustle of electronic media,” said Maharaj.

The venue that was selected had to be in a peaceful location, in the midst of the Drakensberg, where campers would have access to a clean and green atmosphere, where they would be able to have time to rejuvenate.

The programme will include daily yoga and chanting sessions, spiritual and topical discussions around self-issues and global awareness, rafting, archery, hiking and cultural artistic activities and other events.

“We also added a Bollywood twist to the outing, which will happen near the Cascades, where participants can dance in the hills as they do in movies,” Maharaj added. “You will learn how to relax and accept things that you can’t control and you will learn how to obtain the energy to control things that you can.”

The funfilled spiritual holiday is set to happen from December 17 to 23.

There are no age limits, but children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
