‘High-demand’ properties on offer

Strong bidding for seaside home on KZN’S South Coast Glenmore offers beaches – and the tiniest desert in the world

- Jan de Beer

SEVERAL “high demand” properties are among the lots for Ian Wyles Auctioneers’ next multi-property auction at 11am on Wednesday at The Durban Country Club.

Andrew Giddy, property manager at Ian Wyles Auctioneers, says the company will be offering properties mainly sourced from deceased estate, insolvency and divorce matters.

Among the lots will be “high-demand” properties across Kwazulu-natal from the Overport and Chatsworth parts of Durban, to Glenmore on the South Coast.

“Strong bidding is particularly expected for the coastal home in Glenmore as it is in a quiet area of the town and only a short drive to the beach. The attractions of the Wild Coast are also nearby,” Giddy says.

The property to be auctioned is a free-standing four-bedroom (two en-suite) residence, with fully-fitted kitchen, open-plan lounge and dining area, and a large private garden.

“This sale is the subject of a divorce matter and was previously sold on our last multi-property auction, but because of non-payment by the buyer, the property is now being sold by default.

“This provides another chance for a fortunate bidder to secure seaside living.”

Giddy says selling by auction is becoming an increasingly popular choice for owners who need to sell within a fixed time frame.

“Properties on the market for extended periods of time can become stale and overlooked by both buyers and agents.

“An auction lets prospective buyers decide what the property is worth, at any given point in time, and stimulates competitive bidding to maximise the selling price.”

Prospective bidders at an Ian Wyles property auction need to lodge a refundable deposit of R50 000, with Fica documents. On the fall of the hammer, the auctioneer requires a 5% deposit, and the buyer needs to pay the balance of the purchase price within 30 days from confirmation of the sale.

AMONG the properties to be sold by Ian Wyles Auctioneers at its property auction on Wednesday at the Durban Country Club is a four-bedroom residence at Glenmore near Port Edward.

The Wild Coast Sun, and its casino, luxury hotel and top-rated golf course are only about 5km away. But Glenmore has much else to offer:

Shark-protected Glenmore Beach is an excellent surfing and swimming bay that attracts dolphins and whales in winter.

Silver Beach has lifeguards on duty on weekends and holidays. There is good fishing and swimming, and Super Tube rides and an estuary nearby. This beach is the main departure point for small fishing charters and other water motor sports.

San Lameer golf course is in a conservation area with natural wildlife, including buck and hundreds of bird species. This 18-hole course, designed by Peter Malkovich and Dale Hayes, is challenging but fun to play. Facilities include a pro shop, half-way house restaurant, and bar lounge.

Port Edward Country Club also has a golf course with views of the ocean from every tee. The 9-hole layout has duplicate tees, enabling golfers to play a full 18-holes. Facilities include putting NOVEMBER 12 2017 greens, cart, trolley and club hire, a pro shop, a half-way house, restaurant, and bar.

The 11 hectares Red Desert is a national heritage site and, according to the Guinness Book of Records, the smallest desert in the world, just 200m wide, a place where dinosaurs roamed.

Beaches close to Glenmore include Munster, Marina, Trafalgar, Leisure, Palm and Silver beaches.
