A tiny star set for US catwalk

- DOREEN PREMDEV

SIX-YEAR-OLD Tashmira Azaria Inder loves the catwalk and hopes to follow in the footsteps of American supermodel Gigi Hadid.

Tashmira recently auditioned for the International Arts Talent Showcase (IATS) at the Silverstar Casino in Muldersdrift and was selected as a finalist to compete in the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in Florida, in the US.

The IATS is an annual audition held in Joburg, which brings together talent from all nine provinces to show their performance abilities to international talent scout Kim Myers.

It is an opportunity for talented South Africans to be chosen to represent the country at the Showcase in Orlando, Florida.

Tashmira, who lives in Queensburgh, was “over the moon” that she was selected. She is a model at Glamorous Models in Durban.

“I love modelling and I have been doing it since I was three years old,” said Tashmira. “My brother Ashmil, 15, is also a model and he inspired me to want to become a model.

“I also love dancing and started dancing three years ago. When I grow up I want to become a famous model, teach dance and run my own modelling school.”

Tashmira auditioned at the IATS in October. Her mother, Natasha Inder, said the event had been organised by Elsubie Verlinden, the director of Just You Model and Artist Management.

Tashmira’s talent at the audition included modelling and dancing and she swept the judges off their feet, according to her mother.

The panel of judges included Meyers, the independent casting director for Tyler Perry Studios, Ravynn Drummer, and the junior producer for The Steve Harvey Show, Nate Butler.

Tashmira said her parents, Natasha and Ashley Inder, had been making all her dreams come true.
