MANCOSA DONATES MOBILE LIBRARY TO KHALIPHA PRIMARY

-

A TEAM from private education institution Mancosa and the New Africa Education Foundation recently visited Khalipha Primary School in umlazi to hand over a mobile library unit.

Mancosa last year partnered with the Department of Basic Education and New Africa Education Foundation on the Read to Lead campaign launched four years ago.

The campaign promotes access to quality reading material and libraries for the less fortunate. It aims to improve literacy, especially in rural areas where pupils are at a greater risk of failing.

“In line with its mandate to provide quality education, Mancosa has committed to donating mobile libraries to schools with limited resources,” said the institution’s spokesperson, Sumayah Noorgat.

Learners and teachers were thrilled at the presentation, he added.

Deputy principal C Zungu said the contribution would go a long way towards helping the school address the low level of literacy that prevented pupils from making progress.

Mancosa associate director Abdulla Sardiwalla stressed to the pupils the importance of education and the key role of reading in academic development.

He said his institution planned to donate more mobile libraries this year. – Staff Writer
