First Navaratri is time to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul

-

AWAKEN your consciousness and improve your fortunes in the next eight days. This is the time to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul quickly.

This period is known as the Ramayana Week in South Africa, while in India people celebrate this time as Navaratri.

South Africans usually celebrate Navaratri once a year, but it actually happens twice a year and both occasions are equally important.

The first Navaratri usually takes place in March-april and the other in September-october.

This year, the first happens between March 18 and 25 and is known as Chaitra Navaratri. It coincides with the first day of the Hindu New Year.

The second is known as Shardiya Navaratri.

This is a good time to tap the abundance of cosmic energy available from today.

If you are Hindu, worship Mother Durga, Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman in particular during this auspicious period.

Whatever your belief, show greater devotion now so that your fortunes rise rapidly.

It’s beneficial to read the Sunderkand throughout this period or on specific days if you so wish.

MAHESH BANG

I’d like to thank the many temple presidents and their committee members and resident priests for making Sunderkand recitals a part of their temple programmes.

I request others do so too. It will benefit the community and is a useful tool to resolve problems.

Please call me at 083 659 2277 or 0314018888 during office hours and I will distribute complimentary copies in Durban.

The fifth chapter of the holy Ramayana, the Sunderkand praises Shree Ram and beautifully describes his ambassador, Hanuman – his strength, knowledge and wisdom.

Many have reservations about reading the Ramayana because it’s so long. The Sunderkand offers a quick alternative.

When Lord Rama completed his leela and was ready to return to Vaikunt, Hanuman requested to go with him. Lord Shree Ram then blessed Hanuman, asking him to stay and assist his devotees on Earth during the troubled period of Kaliyuga.

So wherever the melodious words of the Ramayana or Sunderkand are recited, Lord Hanuman makes His presence felt.

Mantras create divine vibrations and the Sunderkand is a flow of pious mantras. When recited, it crushes negative thoughts and bestows multiple material blessings with spiritual upliftment.

It is believed reading the Sunderkand daily will help you achieve your heartfelt desire. Benefits from reading it:

Improves financial circumstances and income stability.

Helps people find employment.

Guarantees removal of all forms of black magic and negative energy.

Helps with legal matters and overcoming enemies.

Acts as the “Ram Baan” (Lord Shree Ram’s spearhead) against incurable diseases and ensuring good health.

Negates the ill effects of Saturn, Rahu and Mars in a person’s horoscope.

Makes a person feel fearless and confident.

Helps resolve problems. Brings peace and happiness. Helps individuals prosper. Draws a person closer to God and cleanses their sins.
