SHRAVAN RAMDIAL & DASHNA RAMARARAK

Patience helped find love on Facebook

-

SHRAVAN Ramdial, 26, a demand co-ordinator, and Dashna Ramharak, 28, a law student, both of Pietermaritzburg, were married on October 21 at the Truro Hall in Pietermaritzburg.

HOW WE MET

Shravan and I met on September 22, 2014, via Facebook. He’d posted a sad face icon on his Facebook status and I responded by asking what was wrong. After chatting, he asked for my number and a magical spark developed.

THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

We had a traditional Hindu proposal, which brought our families together to discuss wedding dates. Our wedding had more than 600 guests.

My “hurdee” reflected a Rajasthani village and Truro Hall was turned into a palace for our fairy tale wedding.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Our biggest challenge was finalising our guest list as we each wanted all our friends, family and relatives to attend.

It was stressful making appointments with our wedding co-ordinator and having the wedding at the weekend of Diwali added a lot of strain on both of us. But the support of friends and family helped make the day a success.

VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Everyone can find love. You just have to be patient and find the right person.

Marriage is not a bed of roses but what you make of it. Love your partner for who they are, not what you want them to be.
