Musical Comedy Nite sequel for Sibaya

Entertainm­ent showcasing local talent helps a worthy cause

ANIGHT of intense drama, sidesplitt­ing comedy and a return of the legends is what is expected at the sequel of Musical Comedy Nite 2. The show features the best of local talent and sees the return of the uncles Peru and Bala.

It will be held on April

21, at the Sun Park, Sibaya Casino and promises to be hilarious and fun-filled entertainm­ent, showcasing talented local artists, said Eventz4u co-owner Sudasha Pillay.

“The concept of a

Musical Comedy Nite was the brainchild of Dave Dipooa (of Eventz4u),” said Pillay. “After hosting a successful and sold out Musical Comedy 1, there have been numerous requests for a part 2.

The audience loved the show and it also served as a platform for local artists to showcase their talent.

We have many talented and amazing artists in this country. However, while this is a comedy show it does have a serious purpose: we are raising funds for the new children’s home in Phoenix.

All proceeds from this show will be donated to the Phoenix Child and Welfare Peru and Bala show at the Musical Comedy Nite 2 at Sibaya Casino later this Society for developmen­t of the home which takes care of abused, neglected, abandoned children and those who are victims of family violence. When this home is completed, it will accommodat­e up to 40 children.”

The show will feature stand-up comedians Muthu Murugan, Sagie Murugan, Mervyn Pillay, Analakshmi Govender (Anasia Govender), Kamz Govender, Durban’s social butterfly Logie Naidoo as well as Vikash Mathura and Ray Maharaj as Peru and Bala.

Mathura said he was looking forward to being back on stage after a long absence.

“Audiences are going to be in for a treat – this show is definitely going to be a memorable one,” said Mathura.

Entertainm­ent will be in a variety of vernacular­s, including songs in Hindi, Tamil, English and Zulu.

The Bollywood Showband will keep the audience upbeat with their music. Music Corporatio­n, the talented Deshan Style, Music Pundits and the Bollywood Drummers will also be performing.

“We also have internatio­nal singing star Shay Ramji, as well as Imran Mohammed, Samantha Darsen, Risa Moodley, among others,” said Pillay.

“The dance performanc­es will be choreograp­hed by Rohan Ramkisson’s Entertainm­ent Spectacula­r as well as the Kick Dance Production Company.

It’s going to be a night to remember and it’s for a good cause – we are confident we will raise the much needed funds for the children’s home.”
