Opportunity to buy five farms in the Midlands
Around 975 hectares on offer in sought-after KZN area
FIVE top farms in the Nottingham Road area will be auctioned by In2assets on site at 11am on May 30.
The farms, which are all interlinked, cover a total area of about 975 hectares in one of the most sought-after agricultural areas of the Kwazulu-natal Midlands.
In2assets will offer the five farms individually and then collectively as one unit “to provide all prospective purchasers, both large and small, an equal opportunity to acquire the farms”.
The irrigable farms offer are:
Zuivergoud (about 525ha) has about 140ha of irrigable, arable land, with improvements on that include a four-bedroom main house, a second four-bedroom dwelling, manager’s and other staff housing, stables, workshops, equipment and other sheds, dams and a borehole;
Kintail (more than 200ha) has 90ha of farming land with water permits. The infrastructure includes a three-bedroom house, staff quarters, store rooms and workshop space;
Crystal Barn farm (130ha) features about 50ha of arable land and is home to the popular Crystal Barn wedding venues. There is a current lease for this successful wedding venue with reception area, restaurant, kitchen and chapel, and bridal suite overlooking a dam.
Other farm improvements include a four-bedroom main house, three-bedroom manager’s house, single-bedroom cottage, workshop, storerooms, sheds and 50KVA generator;
Zuiderdiep (about 80ha) has water permits for 60ha of land. A dam with pump house, two-bedroom cottage, workshops and staff housing completes the infrastructure; and
Parks Paddock (35 ha) features more than 20ha of arable land with a water permit. The farm is home to about 36 000 free-range egg-laying hens, housed in six sheds. There are also fully equipped modern facilities, a generator room, 300 KVA generator, packing sheds and offices, a three-bedroom manager’s house and other staff quarters.
In2assets’ group auctioneer Andrew Miller says: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire desirable agricultural land. All the farms are in excellent condition and superbly managed by the owner, JJ van der Velde. Our agent on the ground, Rob Pickering, will be on hand to offer expert advice and handle all viewing appointments on inquiry.”
In2assets have recently staged several successful farm auctions in the Midlands, including the sale of two quality timber farms for R36 million last week.
