SA needs to boycott Israel
ISRAEL is the only country in the world that gives members of a particular religion (including converts) automatic rights (citizenship, land, homes, subsidies) that supersede and mostly replace those of its own “citizens” and native people, who belong to other religions.
Israel grants automatic citizenship to any individual who has one Jewish grandparent, while denying citizenship to people born and raised in the country simply for not being Jewish.
Israel is the only country in the world that identifies its lands as belonging not to its citizens but to “Jewish people everywhere”.
It also refuses to abide by international law and allow refugees to return to their farms, businesses, homes and lands.
It holds millions (Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza) hostage in their own homes, denying them the right to travel, work and even go to school, clinics or places of worship.
Israel has violated over 70 UN Security Council resolutions and countless UN General Assembly resolutions with impunity.
Visiting human rights organisations all reported that the government and its forces seemed to target civilians and exhibit reckless disregard for human life.
It is not only correct to call Israel an apartheid state but it is imperative that we South Africans boycott such an oppressive regime. HIRESH RAMTHOL Sandton
