Aloe Blacc makes his way to the Zakifo fest

-

IT’S JUST six weeks before one of the coolest music festivals hits the city again and the lineup shows it’s becoming one of the best on the continent.

The Zakifo Music Festival will be returning for the fourth time this year and the announcement of American soul funk musician Aloe Blacc as one of the headline acts, has me excited.

A musician’s favourite musician, Aloe Blacc has been in the industry since the late 1990s, plying his trade and writing songs for other musicians.

While his own music is well-liked and has the respect of the music industry, it was 2013’s Wake Me Up with Swedish DJ Avicii that saw him become a household name.

With that in mind, it will be really cool seeing him back in South Africa and performing some of his hit songs, such as I Need a Dollar and The Man.

The line-up looks really dope and I’m ecstatic that they have included gqom originator DJ Lag.

Alternative music fans will enjoy the diverse line-up, which includes Guy Buttery, rapper, Nasty C, DJ Doowap, Femi Koya and Nakhane Touré, who is fresh off his acting wins for the critically acclaimed Inxeba: The Wound.

He released an album a few weeks ago and it will be great seeing him on stage after a hectic few months.

Zakifo tickets are already on sale for May 25, 26 and 27 at various venues around the city, including BAT Centre, Views @ Twenty5, Blue Lagoon Beach.

Tickets are available via Nutickets:

R500 – 3-day weekend pass (excl Madiba concert) R150 – Friday pass – Views @ Twenty5

R150 – Saturday pass – Views @ Twenty5

R300 – Sunday pass – Blue Lagoon Beach

R300 – Friday Madiba concert – BAT Centre
