BONANG Matheba is a household name. Revlon’s brand ambassador for South Africa, who will be launching her Bonang by Cell C app soon already has a hit reality show under her hat. Matheba will be hosting one of the country’s premier social calendar events, the Grand White Dinner, which will take place in Durban on Saturday, April 21. Confirmed performers include Mafikizolo and DJ Lloyd, while Amanda Black, Good Luck, Vusi Nova, Nathi, Mi Casa and Lira might be making an appearance. I spoke to Matheba about style tips and what people can expect for this year’s event.

There is no doubt you have staying power in an industry that can be cut-throat and quite ageist.

What has contributed to your longevity and what motivates you to do what you do?

For me it’s all about how you handle yourself. At a young age, I knew what it was to be a hard-working person and to have a sense of purpose, and with that comes being motivated. While I love what I do, I would also say that life motivates me, meeting people from various walks of life, and not forgetting travelling around the world.

What one word best sums up you and your vision? Powerful.

You have met and interviewed a number of celebrities; name one who got you starstruck? Jennifer Aniston.

How would you describe your style?

My personal style has definitely evolved over the years and it also really depends on my mood. However, I would say it’s mostly glamorous and elegant.

Is there anything you would never wear? Crocs are a no-no for me.

Wearing white on white can be tricky, what are some of your dos and don’ts on wearing an all-white outfit to the Grand White Dinner?

Do dress comfortably because it will be a long day. Do wear your best outfit and be sure to look fabulous. Do bring a jacket for later in the evening.

Do not wear a different colour and please stick to the theme.

Share a random fact about yourself, which not many people know.

Be happy, happiness is... a choice.
