A musical fusion that celebrates diversity

Kareena will always be an actress before all else

BOLLYWOOD star Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is a fourth generation actor from the Kapoor family, has said that she cannot imagine her life without acting.

Kareena interacted with the media after she received the Lokmat Maharashtr­ian Power Celebrity of the AS FREEDOM Day draws near, two musicians from different continents come together to celebrate the diverse cultures in Africa.

Guy Buttery and Kanada Narahari will “reimagine the realms existing between Africa and India” in an upcoming concert in Pietermari­tzburg.

The one-night only show is on April 20, at the Hexagon Theatre.

Buttery said: “The concert is a meeting of two distinct, creative minds.”

Audiences can expect an on-stage melting pot of African and Indian traditiona­l rhythms that complement each other.

Buttery, 34, from

Durban, is among the youngest nominees at the South African Music Year Award at the Lokmat Maharashtr­ian of the Year Awards ceremony in Mumbai earlier this week.

Kareena is regarded as one of the best actresses in the Hindi film industry, earning box office success, critical acclaim and many awards over the years. Awards (Samas). At 18, he was nominated for the best newcomer and best instrument­al awards, and went on to collect two Samas in 2010 and 2014.

Buttery specialise­s in the guitar, sitar, mbira and mandolin, while Narahari is a qualified Indian classical musician.

Born in a small Indian village, Narahari indulged in classical music and grew fond of playing the sitar.

Currently practising in Durban as an ayurvedic therapist, Narahari often combines his homeopathy and music skills to provide wholesome therapy.

“Together we’re going to bring our African and Indian worlds together… creating something unique,” added Buttery.

However, when asked whether she thought of foraying into other fields apart from acting, she said: “After 18 years of working in this profession, I don’t think I can think about anything else because I always wanted to be an actress, so I can’t imagine life without acting.”– IANS
