FORMER ANC MP Makhosi Khoza has quit politics five months after she formed her new party, the African Democratic Change (ADEC).

Khoza’s decision to throw in the towel yesterday, comes after reported infighting in her party, a few months after it was formed.

She was the first to break ranks with the ANC when she called for Zuma to resign last year. This led to the ANC in Kwazulu-natal instituting disciplinary action against her.

But the charges were dropped after she left to form her party.

Khoza became the latest politician to fail to stay in their new party following infighting.

Former Agang SA founder and leader Mamphela Ramphele quit politics because of infighting in her party.

This was also a few months after the party was formed. Ramphele was on the brink of joining the DA before the 2014 elections, but she formed Agang SA instead.

Cope also split after it was formed in 2008 with glaring divisions between co-founders Mbhazima Shilowa and Mosiuoa Lekota.

Shilowa was later expelled from Cope, but the party lost substantial support in the 2014 elections.

Khoza said she was leaving politics because she wanted to focus on education and government.

She worked for the SA Local Government Association for many years before she joined one of the big banks, and went to the provincial legislature in Kwazulu-natal.

“A very promising opportunity has arisen for me to add maximum value to the entire local governance and administration fields in South Africa and possibly the entire African continent,” she said. local
