CAMERON MOONSAMY & MANDISHA HIRJEE

Together, we can conquer the world

-

CAMERON Moonsamy, 27, a company manager from Springfield, and Mandisha Hirjee, 26, a radiographer from Morningside, were married on March 24 at the Orient Hall in Greyville in the company of 500 guests.

HOW WE MET

We met through a mutual friend in 2006. He asked the friend for my phone number and we started chatting on Mxit. We lost touch for a while, but he kept an eye on me for eight years and, in 2014, when we got together again, we just clicked. We married 12 years later.

THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

On my birthday in 2015, he blindfolded me and surprised me with a dream helicopter ride.

After a picnic, he put a tiara on my head and handed me a bouquet of roses. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

It was a precious moment. The thought that someone could love me that much made me so happy. We will always cherish our beautiful traditional wedding.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Planning and ensuring we covered every aspect of the ceremony and the preceding functions was tedious, but we managed to get it all done.

VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

We love being married and being in love. Love is not just about feeling excited and having butterflies all the time. It’s a commitment to accept, cherish, honour and respect each other forever. Love is a beautiful feeling and, with the right person, you can conquer the world.
