Why do people associate pleasure with sin?

-

ACTRESS Kalki Koechlin wonders why people associate pleasure with sin.

Kalki launched jewellery designer Farah Khan’s Magnumxfarahkhan Collection, inspired by ice cream brand Magnum’s idea of Taking Pleasure Seriously, this week.

The actress, the muse of the line, was asked what she prefers in life – “pleasure seriously or secret sins”.

She said: “I don’t know why people associate pleasure with sin.

“I think pleasure should be taken seriously and celebrated.

“I think you can’t give pleasure if you don’t take pleasure, so it’s a very important part of life.” DEEPIKA Padukone, one of the highest paid actors in the Indian film industry, says women must not shy away from demanding, and even fighting for, the pay they think they deserve.

The actress, who attended the Time 100 gala last week, spoke to Time magazine about the need for women to feel confident when it comes to addressing pay.

“You can (start to doubt yourself). But if you believe you deserve it, then you do,” said Deepika, the only Indian to feature on Time magazine’s 100 Influential People in the World, which included the likes of Nicole Kidman, Gal Gadot and Greta Gerwig.

“For years, we’ve been made to feel we should be okay with settling for less, with sometimes a promise of getting more later on. But I think you should get what you think you deserve. It’s okay to fight for it and it’s okay to feel uncomfortable initially, because that’s just the way we’ve been made to feel for so long,” she said.

The actress, who captured hearts by gesturing “namaste” on the red carpet, also spoke about her struggle with clinical depression at the gala.
