Groups have stood together

-

IT IS encouraging that Muslim organisations stood united in their condemnation of this heinous attack. We know acts of wanton violence and barbarism are contrary to the teachings of Islam, says Imraan Buccus.

In Islamic ethics, the end does not justify the means and we know religious extremism has no virtue in Islam.

The Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is reported, in a tradition, to have declared thrice: “The extremists shall perish.”

This attack bears the prints of intra-faith intolerance. It remains critical for intra-faith hatred to be addressed as this has often been the source of much conflict and bloodshed in the world.

The Cape Accord needs to be supported to promote tolerance and social cohesion.
