Eurovision favourites emerge

-

LISBON: Hours before the Eurovision Song Contest was set to begin in Lisbon, Portugal betting odds have put singers from Cyprus and Israel as the most likely winners among the 26 competing countries.

Cyprus finalist Eleni Foureira is hoping to win over audiences with plenty of pyrotechnics and a sparkling catsuit in her pop dance number Fuego.

Israel’s girl-power song Toy from singer Netta is another top favourite.

Bookies have also put Ireland, the record setter for the most wins, in third place.

Eurovision fannation Australia is once again among the finalists, although the betting odds at home are against Jessica Mauboy. – DPA
