- Jan de Beer

FANCY owning a haughty house that not even the Joneses could keep up with? Ian Wyles Auctioneers has just the place for you – a palatial residence with no fewer than nine bedrooms… and two more for the staff.

The sprawling house – which must be an iconic landmark even in Kloof ’s affluent “golf heartland” – is the central showpiece on 4 hectares at 74 Haygarth Road.

To refer to this residence as an “‘improvement” would be an understatement as its contents take the term to new heights.

Inside you will find:

Nine bedrooms (seven en-suite, and six open to individual veranda vistas).

Three lounges.

Large dining room. Enormous entrance hall.

Billiard room (with own veranda).

Bar leading to covered patio with heated plunge pool.

Two studies.

Fully-fitted kitchen. Laundry room. Spacious basement living, incorporating a private gym. its

Swimming pool with enclosure for Jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna.

Tennis court.

Two double garages. In addition, there is luxury staff accommodation with a kitchen and ablutions, and two more bedrooms to bring the total to just under a dozen.

The property, which could almost accommodate an entire classroom, is close to St Mary’s, Thomas More and Kloof junior and senior schools.

Shopping is nearby at Maytime Spar, Kloof Village Mall, and Gillitts Shopping Centre, and the grand house is also near Kloof Country Club and the M13 highway.

Auctioneer Ian Wyles says: “This is an exceptional property – unique and beautiful. It epitomises luxury living. The main house is majestic and reeks of elegance. The grounds are expansive, versatile and suitable for a huge variety of residential applications.”
