Walkout just in heat of the moment

-

I THINK the Ashwin Willemse episode on Supersport is a storm in a teacup and should not boil out of proportion. Ashwin is a good rugby analyst and the team including Nick Mallet and Naas Botha give rugby fans a good commentary of games.

His walkout on the programme, was just in the heat of the moment and hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

It is obvious this matter was just a difference of opinion and there is no racism involved .

It seems that there are many South Africans of all colours who carry a chip on their shoulders denoting inferiority or superiority complexes. Some wait for petty events and turn them into acts of racism.

We see such incidents happening all the time at sporting events, restaurants, schools, workplaces and so on.we should learn to be more tolerant towards one another and realise that the country is for all that live in it.

On Saturday, we watched the Sharks versus the Chiefs game live at the rugby stadium. Whilst the game was being played there were three black boys dressed in their school uniforms who came up the stand to chat to their seated friends, thereby blocking the view of some white spectators who were fully justified in reprimanding them.

Fortunately, the scholars knew they were wrong and apologised or such an incident could have turned racist.

Many people that commit acts of racism do not realise that they will be exposed when somebody records it on their cellphone and in next to no time it goes viral.

On a lighter note, I wish Willemse would pronounce the Sharks correctly, not as the “Sarks”.
