RISHEN SEWPERSAD
A Citi Golf with attitude and presence
THE VW Citi Golf is a special car: its success has defied the perceived norms of traditional aesthetics and erarelated technological appropriateness.
The Citi Golf epitomises Volkswagen’s ideology of building cars for people passionate about what they drive.
Sports-loving warehouse operator Rishen Sewpersad is a 24-year-old Mariannhill resident. His sleek 2003 VW Citi 1.4i is the subject of this week’s feature.
Sewpersad listed socialising and spending time keeping his “ride gleaming” among his interests.
As with most VW Citi “pilots”, his car boasts minor tweaking.
Its ably powered, fuel-efficient, factory-fitted 1400cc fuel-injected, eightvalve power plant was enhanced by the addition of a performance branch mated to a 50mm exhaust system.
This Citi flaunts the awesome form and functional merits of a lowered suspension system.
The suspension is, in addition, linked to an awesome-looking set of 15-inch Rotiform Twist mag wheels, 8J in the front and 8.5J at the rear.
The mags are paired to Federal 165/45/15 rubbers.
The interior was kept standard, while the exterior boasts a front spoiler, fogs and cool graphic decals.
I have yet to find a VW Citi that doesn’t have an epic sound installation. This one is no exception.
It rocks with a sound installation that includes a pair of Lightning Audio 15-inch subwoofers, wired to a Rockford Fosgate amplifier.
It was not disclosed how much was spent on this build.
