Meeting with Mchunu waste of time
YOUR front page lead story “City trade at the end of its tether” which appeared in last week’s edition of your newspaper, refers.
The meeting by top KZN business leaders with Premier Willies Mchunu is akin to meeting Jacob Zuma and expressing concern about state capture when he was president.
We have a group of armed men who stormed the disciplinary hearing of an official in the ethekwini Municipality and demanded that the hearing be stopped. They say you can’t discipline this official because she is a champion of radical economic transformation.
Just a week ago the same group forced themselves into a municipal entity, Durban Solid Waste, trying to extort money.
They have also been going around, carrying dangerous weapons and intimidating construction company bosses.
The reticence to address the chaos and intimidation by Delangokubona is not due to a lack of resources; they do not want to lose votes from prospective supporters for next year’s election.
In any part of the civilised world where democracy prevails, the criminal actions would have been nipped in the bud.
So I believe the business delegation’s meeting was a waste of time and energy.
