Cut from same cloth, love always wins

-

RISHAAN, 37, an IT project manager and supply chain planner from Durban, and Monica Mohanlall,

32, a radio personality from Pietermaritzburg, married on April 28.

HOW WE MET

We met through mutual friends. After chatting for over a year, we managed a first date on July 2, 2016, at the Stanger Winter Fair. Love found us when we were stuck at the top of the Ferris wheel.

THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

We had a traditional proposal, with our families acknowledging our commitment. Rishaan later proposed on bended knee at my home one night.

As we prepared our speech for the reception, we were in tears. It could not have been better, especially as he likened the ring to me – comprising rare and precious platinum with the diamond flawless and unique, as well as two sapphires cut from one piece symbolising us being cut from the same cloth.

The intimate wedding ceremony was attended by 50 people at Durban Hindu Temple.

VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Marriage is a bond between two souls and the union of two families. It requires love, commitment and trust. Marriage isn’t something you get, but something you do. It’s all about loving your partner every day.
