A DAIRY farm of about 600 hectares with “tremendous return on investment potential” will be auctioned on site by In2assets in Kokstad on Wednesday at 11am. On offer will be:
The 330ha farm Fisherman’s Bend.
A farm called Valley, covering about 260ha.
Andrew Miller, who is handling the auction for In2assets, says the dairy farm is an established powdered milk producer, equipped with a state-of-the-art milk plant.
The extensive improvements at Fisherman’s Bend include:
Four-storey plant.
Dragline irrigation 100ha of pastures.
Extensive veld grazing. Large five-bedroom house.
Clubhouse court.
Two-bedroom house. Sheds.
Workshops.
40ha dam.
“There is also a modern 44-point herringbone milking parlour and three bulk milk tanks. On the farm Valley about 100ha are pivot-irrigated pastures with 10ha under dragline irrigation. with powdered-milk for tennis Another 120ha are used for veld grazing,” Miller says.
“It is globally recognised that dairy farming offers one of the best returns on investment in the field of agriculture with powdered milk gaining in popularity.
“Dairy farmers can sell milk throughout the year whereas other farmers’ incomes are generally seasonal. What’s more, even the manure generated by dairy farming can be profitably used. We anticipate strong bidding for this prime property,” he adds.

Kokstad – about 135kms west north of Port Shepstone – is considered the gateway to the Eastern Cape. Regarded as the fastest-growing town in Kwazulu-natal, Kokstad’s economy is largely driven by the dairy industry.
The farms on auction are about 4km out of town and can be reached via Dower Street which becomes the D616 regional road.
