A decade of love and more adventures

VISHAL Ramautar, a mechanical technician from Phoenix, and Mesha Rugbeer, a production manager for Pioneer Foods from Shallcross, both 29, wedded on July 29 in a grand ceremony at Kendra Hall.

HOW WE MET

We met through mutual friends at Suncoast more than 10 years ago and kept running into each other. We started dating soon after we met and our love story has spanned over a decade.

THE PROPOSAL

Vishal whisked me off on a holiday to Mauritius, where one morning we had a romantic breakfast at the Lux Grand Gube Hotel

He put together a photo montage with commentary of all our fun times together and the last picture was of our precious pets Polo and Leia, asking me to marry their “daddy”.

We spent the next year planning for our wedding.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

As we are both based in Johannesburg, planning a wedding in Durban was difficult. Fortunately we had a wonderful support system – our families – to assist us.

VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

We knew each other for about a decade and had a really strong foundation to build on.

Every relationship is different. Vishal and I are still enjoying our journey and look forward to more adventures.
