Man arrested for killing stepdaughter

POLICE in Hlabisa, near Mtubatuba, north Kwazulu-natal have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly assaulting and murdering his two-year-old stepdaughter, police said yesterday.

“The suspect was arrested by police at his hideout in the Buxedene area, Nongoma,” spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said.

It was alleged that on October 14, at about 4pm, a 2-year-old child was “fatally assaulted with a stick because she had messed herself”.

“The suspect was arrested weeks later because he had fled the area.

He will appear in the Hlabisa Magistrate’s Court tomorrow,” Mbele said.
