SA beauties bring home the crowns

SOUTH African beauties, Nicole Maistry and Chardanè Padiachy stole the show at the Mrs and Miss Inter-nations pageants held in Singapore recently. Maistry and Padiachy were crowned queen in the Mrs and Miss Inter-nations pageants, respective­ly.

Maistry, 32, a businesswo­man from Effingham Heights is a former Mrs India winner and became the ambassador for Mrs Uniworld in August.

She said she is overjoyed and proud to have represente­d her country.

Maistry and Padiachy, 22, – who also holds the title of Miss Uniworld South Africa, participat­ed in the pageants held at the Genting Hotel, Jurong, Singapore. This was the first time the Mrs and Miss Inter-nations pageants were held.

“I participat­ed in this pageant to showcase South Africa and for the experience of being on an internatio­nal platform. The competitio­n was tough – there were 33 participan­ts from around the world. I did my best and I will treasure this experience,” said Maistry.

“It was also my first trip to Singapore and I am impressed with the pristine manner the city is maintained, the warmth of the people and the pride they take in their culture.”

Maistry will highlight women empowermen­t and improve the level of self-developmen­t of women within society during her reign. She said Mrs Inter-nations reflects global women empowermen­t and encourages women who participat­e in the pageant to be a shining example of strength and perseveran­ce to other women.

Chief executive of Uniworld pageants, Anusha Bisaal, said Maistry and Padiachy performed exceptiona­lly well from the start of the pageant.

“They showcased South Africa’s diversity in their talent segments,” said Bisaal.

“Through the question and answer segment they promoted unity and empowermen­t, something South Africans are synonymous with. We have raised the bar on internatio­nal standards and I am confident that our ladies will be victorious in the upcoming Miss and Mrs Uniworld pageants.”
