Fine, pimped-out whip fit for a queen

- ASHWEN SINGH

FRENCH cars have historically been somewhat of a “lesser spotted treat” among local auto enthusiast circles. Consequently, only a precious few of these cars have found their way to the “My Sweet ride” column.

Adding some diversity to the recent blur of male-owned German and Japanese automotive specimens is auto enthusiast, Shantal Subbadu, a bank sales consultant and Phoenix resident. Subbadu loves attending and participating in car shows as well as spending time with family and friends, reading and listening to music.

Incidentally, she impressively holds the 2017 Nitro Crew SA record in her class of vehicle, a very French Peugeot 2004 206 2.0 GTI.

Mechanically, Subbadu’s GTI boasts the minimalist but effective performance likes of a 57mm performance exhaust system which augments the otherwise standard 2.0 turbocharged, stock-standard, factory-fitted power plant.

The exterior on Subbadu’s GTI features an “underglow” vehicle lighting install, an OEM installed panoramic sunroof as well as a two-piece Cupra lip and an OEM boot fin which was painted black in colour.

The car’s interior flaunts suede and leather seats, headrest-mounted screens, footwell lighting as well as laser and strobe lighting install.

Acoustically, Subbadu’s GTI sports a killer sound install. Most unusually it flaunts two independent sound systems, one for everyday use and the other for competitions and shows.

An undisclosed amount of money was spent on this build.
