ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)

- DEBASHINE THANGEVELO

With power-hungry Mars energising your sign this week, you’re ready and able to succeed. While others are reeling from the current lunar eclipse, you thrive. If you’ve been waiting for the right time for a fresh start, do so now. Seize any opportunities.

TAURUS (APRIL 21 - MAY 20)

Taureans are pretty sharp when summing up others, but this week finds you unsure. Maybe you’re feeling out of sorts. The old adage still rings true: better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps it’s time to slow down and take a break. All you need is some peace and quiet.

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 21)

Watch what you say this week, or your words could be misconstrued. Not everyone’s playing fair at the moment. Their petulance is just for show. Upside: you can set aside some time for fun.

CANCER (JUNE 22 - JULY 22)

This week, other people’s money can bring a windfall or your downfall, so be discriminating in your choice of financial partnerships. There’s hope of a better offer in around three week’s time. Spend quality time at home.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 23)

If envious colleagues can’t accept your triumphs, ignore them. Still, it could be an uneasy week. Should others turn against you, don’t retaliate. It’s far more dignified just to walk away.

VIRGO (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 22)

This is your week to be noticed. Demand recognition, and if others try to derail your efforts challenge them tactfully. Resist being too blunt. Have your facts straight.

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 23)

It’s possible you’ve been trying too hard to fit in where you’re not really meant to. Truth is, you should be forging your own path right now. Compromise is not on the table right now, so stay true to you.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)

If you must obsess about anyone’s health this week, let it be your own. You’re more likely to be suffering from exhaustion.

SAGITTARIUS (NOV 23 - DEC 21)

If your decisions are unhurried and you allow time for projects to make headway, you should do well. You’re a tad more accident-prone than usual.

CAPRICORN (DEC 22 - JANUARY 20)

Sometimes it pays to forge ahead without too much forethought. Go with your instincts and power ahead. You could find yourself travelling, or doing business with long-distance clients or reconnecting with friends.

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 18)

It’s a vibrant week. It is about growing closer and getting to know loved ones better, as well as making joint plans.

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20)

Karmic laws apply this week. Look at your recent history to see whether to expect good news or bad. Your love life would benefit from an honest heart-to-heart. I’VE been a die-hard fan of Grey’s Anatomy for the longest time.

This magnum opus of Shonda Rhimes used to leave me in tears on the couch. I was heavily invested in the comings and goings of Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang (before she left), Alex Karev, Miranda Bailey, Richard Webber, Owen Hunt, Jackson Avery, Maggie Pierce… well, you get my drift.

As far as drama goes, this awardwinning TV series eclipsed most soap operas and telenovelas – eventually coming close to being labelled as such.

At this point, some fans wrote it off, opting to invest their time binge-watching Rhimes’s other firm favourites The Fixer (aka Scandal) and How to Get Away with Murder.

My loyalty to the show remained steadfast, until now. WHILE Hollywood kept the world captivated by all the behindthe-scenes drama of its award ceremonies, South Africa has been following the personal scandals and trysts of our A-listers.

With all this noise stemming from the award ceremonies, there is one film making a buzz for all the right reasons.

Alfonso Cuarón’s black and white feature Roma has been bagging a few honours. All eyes are on this Netflix movie for an Oscar.

The 57-year-old Mexican director, who has a George Clooney-esque sexiness about him, previously bagged an Oscar for Gravity.

Back to other news, local socialmedia sensation Lasizwe Dambuza,

I used to love how the drama allowed me to stray from reality for 40 minutes, reducing my stresses of aka Babes Wamaleyvels, makes his small screen debut on MTV’S @ Lasizwe: Fake It Till You Make It.

He gained attention for his satirical videos, which went viral on social media.

At 20, he invites the nation into his growing world where fame beckons and trolls multiply, not that he allows himself to be baited into responding to some of their harsh comments. Nor does he comment on the public’s reception of him during his interview. He remains politically correct and PR savvy.

Meanwhile, the countdown to The Sun Met in Cape Town has begun.

The who’s who from the entertainment world in Africa will be touching down on Friday.

Punted as “Africa’s richest race the day.

Season 15 kicked off with a double bill, sans Jessica Capshaw (Dr Arizona Robbins) and Sarah Drew as (Dr April Kepner).

Of course, that simply meant room for some new blood. They are Chris Carmack (The O.C. and Nashville) as Dr Atticus “Link” Lincoln and Alex Landi as Dr Nico Kim, who is also the medical drama’s first gay male surgeon.

Back to my newfound #disinterest in the show, the story arcs have become unbearably pedestrian. Some couples are in love, others are falling back into love and some are still searching, ad nauseam.

Bottom line: the new hunks in the emergency room may get hearts fluttering but they aren’t enough to revive my disinterest in the show. Moving on! day”, this year’s theme is “African Luxury: Precious Metals”. As we are still in January, a time when everyone is finding their rhythm again, a little self-help can certainly help with that.

Robin Sharma is back with a new book, The 5 AM Club – Own Your Morning: Elevate Your Life.

Getting up earlier has proven to make people happier, more helpful and more alive.

Now doesn’t that sound like the perfect way to start your year (and day).
