Men accused of murdering principal to know fate this week

THREE men who allegedly murdered a retired school principal at her Chatsworth home in 2017 are expected to know their fate this week.

Judgment in the case started on Thursday and is expected to be completed on Tuesday, according to prosecutor Kalvin Singh.

Intern estate agent Lungani Basil Underhill, 26, his cousin Braveman Underhill, 25, and Fredboy

Msomi, 30, face charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravatin­g circumstan­ces after the death of Gona Pillay, 63, at her Silverglen home in September 2017.

Her husband, Loga, 71, survived the attack. He was stabbed 17 times.

The couple were attacked during a property viewing of their Silverglen home.

At the start of the trial in June, Loga told the Durban High Court that he watched helplessly as men strangled his wife.
