Fund raising efforts for home

- SILINDILE NTOMBELA

THE financially stricken Aryan Benevolent Home (ABH) in Chatsworth will be hosting several events this festive season in an attempt to raise funds.

The ABH suffered financial woes this year due to lack of funding by sponsors and donors.

Nirode Bramdaw, ABH’S spokesperson and Council member, said as a result of the lack of funding the home has been left with a financial shortfall.

“In the recent past, secure sources of funding such as the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund have not been forthcoming with their usual support, leaving the ABH with an accumulating deficit of R520000,” he said.

The ABH is a registered non-profit organisation which offers care and shelter to thousands of the aged and frail, victims of violence and abuse, children in need, and the mentally and physically challenged. The home runs several projects throughout the country.

This week, the ABH held the Educate, Enrich and Empower Humanity Workshop by motivational speaker and life coach, Meena Mothilal.

Yesterday, Flash Entertainers hosted a concert. Today, the cast of Dingalings will lend their support at the Charity Store Christmas sale from 9am to 3pm, while renowned artists, Verushka Pather and Manesh Maharaj, will perform at the Poetry in Motion concert from 3pm to 4.30pm.

All proceeds from the fundraising projects will be donated to the

ABH. Bramdaw encouraged the community to attend the events to contribute in taking care of the needy.

“We encourage the community to attend the events at the ABH.

All proceeds from the fundraising projects will help the ABH to care for and serve South Africa’s most vulnerable people,” he said.

Bramdaw said 50% of their funding is subsidised by the State while the balance coming through fundraising.

“Our charity’s ability to continue to operate is due, in large part, to the generous support of individual donors who believe in our mission, as well as donations from businesses and corporates,” he said.
